About “Comfort Women” Resolution in the New York State Legislature
Please allow me to send you this sudden letter.
The people in Japan, who are friends of the United States, have had a deep shock on the media coverage that the New York State upper chamber Did Adopt an act blaming Japan regarding “Forced prostitution for Japanese army by 200,000 comfort women” and Systematic prostitution by “Comfort woman system”.
First of all what is the Social scientific background and evidence on 200,000 comfort woman? Also, enforcement by Japanese army on comfort woman, what is the evidence of enforcement and involvement by them? Furthermore What is the “Comfort Woman System”? What is the definition of it? What kind System was it? Who and How was it operated? What is the evidence of existence of it? Lastly, did Upper chamber did any refer to Japanese government? At the time of Adoption at Lower house, We would like you to kindly request Validation on above points.
With regard to “Comfort woman” issue, the following five points are the reason why we the Japanese cannot but have doubts and puzzled. The first four pages briefly describe the points and questions in question. Detailed countercharge, evidence, testimony, and the source are specified below. Please refer to it for each point as well.
1. Recognition of the the Japanese government about recruitment of comfort women and the involvement of the Japanese military
* Although the Japanese government and the South Korean government authorities jointly conducted a survey on comfort women issue in the 1990s, there was no evidence proving participation/ forcing nature of the Japanese government and the Japanese military other than former comfort women's testimony.
